Building High-Performing Teams

This course looks at teams as systems, drawing on research into what actually separates high-performing teams from merely competent ones. You will study the stages teams typically move through as they form and mature, what makes a healthy mix of team composition, and why psychological safety — not raw talent — is consistently the strongest predictor of team effectiveness in rigorous research. You will then learn concrete practices for building and protecting that safety, setting team norms that sustain high performance, and diagnosing and reviving a team that has started to underperform. This course is about team-level dynamics rather than one-on-one management, so it complements, rather than repeats, courses focused on individual leadership or management mechanics.
